About OutThink

OutThink is Larsen & Toubro’s case study competition, where students from invited institutes can register to participate. The case study will be available for download to the registered teams only. In Round 1, teams have to download the case study and submit their analysis. Based on their understanding and concepts applied, one team from each campus will be shortlisted. The shortlisted teams will receive additional information / tasks for Round 2. On the basis of submissions of second round, 8 best teams will be selected for the Final Round. The Team reaching Final Round will be invited to Mumbai for a presentation to L&T’s Jury.


This Competition is open only to Contestants who are currently pursuing full time PGP/PGDM/MBA (2 year programme) from selected list of institutes (Please refer to the institutes list on the registration page ).

Registration Process

  1. Students from the invited institutes form a team and register on OutThink website by 25th October 2019
  2. Each team should comprise 3 members. No team will be eligible if registered with less than or more than 3 members
  3. The members of a team should be from the same institute
  4. Modification in the members of teams post registration will not be allowed
  5. L&T reserves the right to check the validity of the registration information submitted by the students at any stage of Competition and ask for copies of ID documents and/or student cards from the institutes cited by the student. L&T also reserves the right to refuse participation, or to disqualify, at any time during the Competition, students (and their teams) who have submitted incorrect or misleading information. Teams will have no recourse against disqualification decisions.

Round 1

  1. Registered students need to login to OutThink site with the credentials received through email
  2. Teams have to download the case study and submit their analysis by 27th October,2019
  3. Submitted entries will be evaluated by a panel decided by L&T
  4. All the presentations must be submitted in PowerPoint 2010 or above.Any additional element like music, video should be embedded to keep a single file
  5. Total Size of the attachment should not increase  20 MB, the number of slides should be restricted to the number of questions + 2
  6. Evaluation will be based on the following parameters:
    1. Case analysis
    2. Application of data
    3. Implementation feasibility of the recommendation/proposed solution
    4. Quality of presentation
  7. One team from each institute will be shortlisted for Round 2

Round 2

  1. Teams shortlisted will receive additional information/challenge
  2. All the teams shall submit the analysis in view of additional information / challenge by 10th November,2019
  3. Eight teams will be shortlisted for the final round.

Round 3

  1. 8 teams shortlisted from Round 2 will be invited to Mumbai for the final presentation
  2. All team members should be present for the final round
  3. Teams can make alterations to their presentation for the final evaluation round
  4. Details of the final round will be communicated to the shortlisted teams after declaration of the results of Round 2
  5. L&T has the right to change the date and venue of the final round
  6. L&T will provide accommodation & domestic travel for the outstation team members called for the final round.
